Starting at the Riel National Historic Site today, then heading to Amsterdam Tea Room for lunch. In the afternoon going to the Manitoba Museum, then booked the James Avenue Pumphouse fur dinner. Nala was a bit sick last night while we were out, so hopefully feeling better today!
*******
Riel House was a bit underwhelming. The house is just a house, with no info. inside and a tour guide that doesn’t have much info. to share. There were some placards outside you could read for free and get the idea.
The Amsterdam Tea House was in the Exchange District like the brewery last night. The patio was nice, along with the cherry tea and the roast beef sandwich. I shared a short video of the Fringe Festival in the background.
On the way to the Manitoba Museum we popped across the bridge at The Forks and saw Riel’s grave. We also saw the encampment outside the Museum of Human Rights for the women the government won’t dig up in the landfill. People were outside the landfill but were forced to move.
The Manitoba Museum was good. We liked the 3D exhibits for the Nonsuch and the Winnipeg town.
After the museum we ate in The Exchange District again a bit early at the James Ave. Pumphouse. I saw the restaurant in a tourism video and remembered the big pierogi. The restaurant is on the site of the water pumphouse the city put in to help the fire department. The pierogi was good, the the dill sauce was rich.
